Legendary playback singer and actor AL Raghavan, husband of legendary actress MN Rajam, passed away on Friday, 19th June. The playback singer breathed his last after suffering a cardiac arrest. AL Raghavan was 80 years old.
AL Raghavan was rushed to Ramachandra Hospital in Chennai around 7:30 am where he breathed his last. The mortal remains of playback singer will be taken to his residence in Royapettah in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
He is remembered for his melodious song – Enkirunthaalum Vaazhga, from the film Nenjil Oru Aalayam. His famous songs are Paappa Paappa Kathaikelu, Once a Pappa Met a Mama, Andru Oomai Pennallo, Moondru Thamizh. Raghavan is survived by his actress wife MN Rajam, a son and a daughter.
AL Raghavan is born in Ayyampettai near Thanjavur to Lakshmana Bhagavathar, Raghavan entered the entertainment world as a child artiste in the movie Krishna Vijayam.
AL Raghavan started his music career in the year 1947 and has crooned a number of songs in Tamil. He has also acted in several movies and TV serials with his last one being mega show Ahalya in which he was one of the protagonists. He was the friend of TM Soundararajan and together they bankrolled the movie Kallum Kaniyaagum.
