Telangana government has recently issued an order to open liquor shops 24 hours in Telangana. Liquor shops, however, have made it clear that they do not come under the purview of this law. It has been clarified that it is applicable only to those established under Shops and Establishment.

Telangana government has given orders that liquor shops can be opened 24X7 in the state. In this regard, the GO was issued on Friday. But liquor shops are also advertised to be open 24 hours a day. Telangana government has given clarity on this. The government on Sunday made it clear that all shops and establishments should not be open 24×7 and only those that have received permission from the government will be open.

The order issued on 4th April exempted shops and establishments which are open for business 24 hours a day. However, the latest notification issued by the government has stated that there are limitations to these permissions. According to the explanation of the Department of Labour, Employment Training and Industries, GO No 4, It has been clarified that the exemption from Section 7 of the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988 does not apply to all establishments. It has been stated that shops and institutions should get proper permission from the government to operate 24×7.

TS BCL, Indian-made foreign liquor depots, A4 shops,  distilleries, breweries, and 2B bars should function during the special hours in association with the Excise laws.
