Mahesh Babu accepted the green challenge, thrown by Telangana’s Industry and Information Technology Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR). He posted few pics of himself with Sitara, planting and watering a mango sapling in a farm land. Mahesh Babu nominated his daughter Sitara, son Gautham and director Vamsi Paidipally.
Mahesh Babu wrote on his twitter, “Challenge accepted, @KTRTRS & @RachakondaCop Thank you for nominating me… #HarithaHaram is a great initiative taken towards a go green environment. I now nominate my daughter Sitara, my son Gautam and my @directorvamshi to take on the challenge.”
KTR, the son of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, had also invited the former cricketers and other celebrities to plant saplings. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar who accepted the green challenge wrote on his twitter, “Thank you, @KTRTRS, for nominating me for the green challenge #HarithaHaram. I accept the challenge and hope all of you do too. The key to a greener planet is in our hands.”
US Consul General in Hyderabad, Katherine Hadda also accepted the green challenge and she nominated three celebrities including tennis star Sania Mirza.
VVS Laxman also accepted green challenge and shared the pics of sapling the plants. He wrote on the wall of his twitter, “The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies. Great initiative @KTRTRS, I have planted pomegranate, water apple & Laxman Phal saplings. I nominate @virendersehwag, @M_Raj03 & @Pvsindhu1A to plant 3 trees, nurture them and make #HarithaHaram a sustainable movement.”
According to a statement from the minister’s office, a total of 80 Cr saplings have been planted as against the target of 230 Cr in 4 years. The IV phase of Haritha Haram, the flagship programme of the state government, is scheduled to be launched on 1st August.
Mahesh Babu was last seen in Koratala Siva’s Bharat Ane Nenu, which was hit at the box office and currently Mahesh Babu is working with Vamsi Paidipally for an upcoming untitled film. The sources say that Mahesh Babu’s film will highlight the issues of farmers.
