The creative and talented film maker Mani Ratnam has fulfilled his wish by making a film on the famous Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan. Made as a PAN Indian film PS 1 which grossed more than 500 crores at the box office. Yesterday Mani Ratnam officially announced that he is now coming up with Ponniyin Selvan 2 and also revealed the release date of this drama.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 will be released in a grand way on 28th April 2023. Lyca Productions shared a teaser. It featured Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi. The caption read: , “Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023!” It included the hashtags ‘PS1′, ‘Cholas are back’, ‘PS2’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.
Ponniyin Selvan starring Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, and Sobhitha Dulipala. Oscar-winning AR Rahman is rendering the tune. Lyca Productions, in association with Madras Talkies, is bankrolling this upcoming big budget drama.
In PS1, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was seen in dual roles, as a Queen Nandini, the princess of Pazhuvoor, who was on a mission to seek vengeance, and Mandakini Devi. Mani Ratnam’ magnum opus is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 Tamil novel of the same name.
