This rape comments was made yesterday on the occasion of audio launch event of Peranbu in which Mammootty is playing the lead role. The makers also unveiled the first teaser of this upcoming film. Actor Siddharth, Andrea Jeremiah, Vasanth Ravi, Vetrimaran, Bala, Karu Pazhaniappan, Aadhik Ravichandran, Bharathiraja, KS Ravikumar, Mysskin, AL Vijay, Aram Gopi Nainaar and others attended the event along with Mammootty and Mysskin.
The upcoming bilingual (Tamil and Malayalam) drama Peranbu is directed by Ram and produced by P. L. Thenappan whereas the music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Actresses Anjali and Sadhana are playing the female lead roles. Peranbu also introduced, a transsexual woman Anjali Ameer from Kerala in this film.
Mysskin who is popular for handing dark subjects in his movies, said, “You can keep watching Mammootty throughout this film. If he had been younger and he had been a woman, I might have fallen in love with him. Had I been a girl, I’d have raped him actually. Such a fabulous performance.” After hearing these words, the audiences were shocked but later they started to laugh. Mysskin used the idea of raping as a compliment.
Mysskin added that he wanted to say something “controversial” so that the movie becomes a hit. If his rape “joke” was one such attempt, it’s inexcusable. Peranbu is all about relationship between father-daughter relationship.
According to the latest update, the public has started to criticize Mysskin for his crass joke on social media with stern words. Some comments are as follows:
Sujatha Narayanan: Is this even a worthy manner of appreciating Mammootty? What is so funny in #mysskin saying he would’ve raped #Mammootty had he been a girl? Role reversal?? Its not a compliment to either the mega star or any woman. Also – One can praise an actor without having to decry another.
Subhakeerthana: #Mysskin’s distasteful statement doesn’t fall under ‘just a joke’ category. Oh man, rape jokes aren’t funny. CAN NEVER BE. Survivors of sexual violence deserve respect and support. Please don’t tweet, ‘come on, he of course, didn’t really mean it’
