An ATR 72 aircraft that belongs to Yeti Airlines carrying 72 people, including the 4 crew members, crashed in Nepal’s Pokhara. This incident took place at 11 am on Sunday. A spokesperson of Yeti Airlines revealed that the plane crashed between old airport and Pokhara International Airport.

 Nepal Army spokesperson revealed that at least 16 people have died in the crash.

 The airport has been closed as the rescue operations are underway. The aircraft was on its way to Pokhara from Kathmandu and there were 72 people on the twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft operated by Nepal’s Yeti Airlines, including 2 infants, 4crew members and 10 foreign nationals.

Several pics  and videos of the incident are going viral on social media. In the videos, plumes of smoke  are seen billowing from the crash site. In some videos, people are seen running in panic.

 The reports are coming that while landing at the Pokhara airport, the aircraft crashed on the bank of the Seti River between old airport and new airport.

As per top Nepal airport authorities, the plane rescue operation is underway. The responders have already reached there and trying to douse the fire.

The rescue operations are ongoing. Details of this accident are yet to come.
