Two of the most popular lung spaces – NTR Gardens and Lumbini Park in the city Hyderabad, both near the picturesque Hussain Sagar, are set to undergo a major transformation in terms of design and recreational facilities. HMDA- Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has invited a request for proposal for appointment of a landscape architect to execute the task. The architect will prepare a plan and monitor execution of the plan for both the parks- NTR Gardens and Lumbini Park. Not only this, Lumbini Park and NTR Garden are set to be renamed Telangana Martyrs Memorial Park and Dr B R Ambedkar Park, respectively. According to TRS insiders, the government is seriously contemplating renaming these two parks – NTR Gardens and Lumbini Park .
The government is also considering another name for NTR Garden : NTR-Ambedkar Park. HMDA officials said, “The existing parks would not be demolished and the makeover would be done by integrating existing infrastructure. And a new design, illumination, recreational facilities, greenery, etc, will come up by integrating the existing amenities and infrastructure in these two parks.”
The sources say that the government is going to spend Rs 150 cr on the statue’s installation, construction of a meditation centre, photo gallery, and conference hall. 125 foot tall bronze statue at NTR Garden, will be the world’s tallest statue of Ambedkar.
