In a big crackdown on the controversial Islamist outfit, PFI, NIA carried out simultaneous searches at 40 locations in both Telugu States- Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Four persons belonging to PFI – Popular Front of India were arrested on the charges of allegedly training Muslim men in “anti-national” activities. The local police in Nizamabad district had earlier registered a case against PFI for inciting religious hatred and training in terrorist activities in the name of religious activities. Later this case was transferred to NIA.

The case was taken over by NIA, two and a half months after Nizamabad police busted PFI terror-training module. The agency had registered a fresh FIR on 26th August. NIA teams, assisted by the armed security personnel and local police, blocked approach roads to the  houses of suspects during the operation.  The  searches are going on in about 40 places.
