Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Biocon Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar are among the 6  Indians who have made it to the Forbes’ annual list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.

Along with Sitharaman, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Falguni Nayar, HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra, SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and Steel Authority Of India Chairperson Soma Mondal were listed in the Forbes Worlds 100 Most Powerful Women this year.

Ranked at number 36, Nirmala Sitharaman has made it to the list for the 4th time in a row. In 2021,  she was ranked at number 37 on the list, While in 2020 and 2019, she was listed at 41st and 34th rank.

Falguni Nayar, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Madhabi Puri Buch, Roshni Nadar Malhotra,  and Soma Mondal ranked 89th, 72nd, 54th, 52nd,  and 67th. The Most Powerful Women list  includes 39 CEOs- ten heads of state  and eleven billionaires worth a combined USD 115 billion.

 It described Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw as one of India’s richest self-made women. She founded India’s largest listed biopharmaceutical firm by revenue, in  the year 1978. The firm has successfully forayed into the lucrative US market.

European Commission President Ms Ursula von der Leyen tops the list of the 19th annual Forbes list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.
