 There were no passengers from Telangana in the Odisha train accident, the government said. The concerned officials said that the Telangana government is supporting the Odisha government in the rescue operations of the Coromandel Express train accident which resulted in heavy loss of life. 

In details, the death toll in the railway accident in Balasore, Odisha on Friday has increased to 288, Indian Railways said in a statement released at 2 pm on Saturday. Earlier, Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said that 238 people died and 900 passengers were injured in this accident. However, the latest media reports state that more than 300 people have died in this accident so far. Doctors said that the condition of many of those receiving treatment is critical.

Telangana government has revealed that none of the passengers from Odisha were injured in the Odisha train accident. The state government extended its support to the Odisha government for the relief efforts. Seventeen bogies of Coromandel Express and SMVT-Howrah Super Fast Express derailed in the worst railway accident in the last 15 years. Railway officials said it was not yet clear whether the Coromandel Express entered the loop line and hit the stationary goods train or derailed first after entering the loop line and then hit the stationary train, although signaling failure was initially blamed for the accident.
