The central government is all set to release a new Rs 100 coin featuring the legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao to commemorate his centenary celebrations. According to the official gazette released by central government, the limited supply coin will have the 44 mm diameter and be made up of 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, 5 percent nickel, and 5 percent zinc. The coin will bear the inscription “Sr NTR 100 year anniversary” in both English and Hindi languages.
The NTR coin of the legendary personality legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao is expected to be a source of pride for the Telugu community worldwide.
NTR- Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao coin will not be in circulation in market since this will be a commemorative metal piece issued on the specific occasions. However, it will be sold as a collective by t Mint. Many cultural icons like M S Subbulakshmi and others have made it to coin in past.
The former Union Minister Purandeswarri had disclosed at her father’s birth anniversary last year that the family was in touch with the Reserve Bank of India to launch commemorative coin in the centenary year of the legendary actor turned politician Nandmuri Taraka Rama Rao.
