NTR Kathanayakudu Story:  The movie NTR Kathanayakudu starts with Basavatarakam (Vidya Balan) under treatment in 1984 Madras. Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao (Balakrishna) works as sub-registrar in Mangalagiri in 1947. But because of corruption, he resigns his job and comes to Madras. Later he tries very hard to get into movies. NTR Kathanayakudu ends with NTR announcing historical Telugudesam Party .

Plus Points:

  • Performance
  • Balakrishna
  • Vidya Balan
  • Screenplay
  • Dialogues
  • Execution
  • BGM
  • Direction
  • Cinematography

Minus Points:

  • Run Time

Performance:  Nandamuri Balakrishna who is essaying the role of his father and legendary actor NTR, is the heart and soul of NTR Kathanayakudu. He did complete justice to his character. His performance and body languages are the major highlights of the movie. Vidya Balan delivers a memorable performance in the role of Basavatharakam. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is good as Nandamuri Harikrishna.  Prakash Raj and Murali Sharma are good in the roles of Nagireddy and Chakrapani. Nitya Menon as Savitri, Pranitha Subash as Krishna Kumari , Hansika as Jaya Prada, Rakul Preet Singh as Sridevi, shines in their limited presence. Rana Daggubati is wonderful in the role of Chandrababu Naidu. Rest of the cast performed accordingly.

Technical:  The Dialogues are well written. Engaging screenplay, dance sequences and picturisation are the  major attractions on the technical front.   The background score is given by MM Keeravani, is superb. He has lifted many scenes to another level with his score. Ghana keerthi saandhra, Dana Veera Soora Karna, Chitram Bhalare vichitram and  Cheyyetthi jai kottu telugoda  songs are good. The picturisation of all the songs are excellent. The word NTR is the biggest strength of the movie.  Krish has a tremendous grip over technical aspects. This is not an easy film to visualize and execute, but Krish is successful in that aspect. The production value of NTR Kathanayakudu is rich.  The Cinematography by Gnanvel Raja and background score are major plusses. Production values are good. The art department has done terrific work in recreating the sets and locations. The editing is fine.

Analysis: On the whole, NTR Kathanayakudu is honest portrayal of Legendary actor (Nandamuri Tarak Rama Rao) NTR’s life. It will work wonders at the box-office and work in both, multiplexes as well as single-screen cinemas.

Krish’s direction is superb. In the first half of NTR Kathanayakudu, Nandamuri Balakrishna looks odd as 20s age NTR but he looks good as 60 age NTR in the second half of the film. Vidya Balan’s wig looks so bad in this biopic. We can see her wig stitches. The second half of NTR Kathanayakudu shows how NTR is influenced towards the public and their struggles.

Rayalaseema drought relief fund raising effort scenes came out very well. NTR’s first time portrayal of lord Sri Krishna character in Mayabazaar scene drag the attention of viewers. Several scenes like NTR ANR help to Diviseema cyclone victims and fund collections came out well.

Balakrishna and Vidya Balan’s performance, Lord Sri Krishna scene, clap worthy/whistle worthy dialogues, outstanding background score , Cinematography are the major highlights of NTR Kathanayakudu. Nandamuri Balakrishna deserves the highest praise for his portrayal of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.

NTR Kathanayakudu will write box-office history!!
