Over Rs 8000 Cr loss for theaters

Indian film industry was taken aback hugely by the corona virus outbreak. Almost all the theaters, multiplexes all over India are now shut down. There is no clarity over when this will become normal again. Government have asked theaters to shut down till month end. In Telangana it is till 21st of this month. However the shut down will likely to be extended if positive cases aren’t going down.

This is going to be a huge loss because of this theater shut down. According to some analysis, there will be around 8000 Cr rupees loss by the time things will become normal again. Out of those 8000 Cr, half of the loss will come from ticket sales. GST loss for government is going to be 1000 Crores. The sale of food, beverages and other stuff in theaters is said to be another 2000 Cr rupees. There will be loss on income of advertisements also. This will mount upto 1000 Cr which means there will be a total of 8K Cr loss. Wonder how theaters are going to manage this.

However this is not the time to worry about the business prospects and all the multiplexes have made this clear which is a good thing.
