India Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘ mother Heeraben Modi passed away at the age of 99 on Friday at 3.30 am. She was 99.
When PM Modi came to know about her death, he reached the residence of his brother Pankaj Modi at Raysan village on the outskirts of Gandhinagar, where the mortal remains of their mother were kept. PM Modi arrived at airport in Ahmedabad in the morning and went straight to the house of his younger brother Pankaj Modi and he offered floral tributes to his mother Heeraben Modi and bowed down at her feet. Later he shouldered her mortal remains on way to cremation ground for last rites. Heeraben mortal remains were consigned to flames by the prime minister and his brothers.
She was admitted to UN Mehta Hospital Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Modi wrote on Twitter, “A glorious century rests at feet of God”.
PM Modi shared a pic of his mother on Twitter and wrote, “In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of selfless Karmayogi and life committed to the values.”
Heeraben Modi was born on 18 June, 1923. Her hometown was Vadnagar in Mehsana, Gujarat. She has five sons – PM Narendra Modi, Pankaj Modi, Amrit Modi Soma Modi, and Prahlad Modi, and one daughter Vasantiben Hasmukhlal Modi.
Modi’ mother Heeraben lived in Raysan village near Gandhinagar with the prime minister’s younger brother Pankaj Modi.
RRR expressed grief over the demise of Narendra Modi’s mother and said her life was a great example of devotion to values. Heeraben passed away at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday.
