As technology has been transitioning every day, the role of social media is turning up much more priority. On the same note, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was having a question and answer session with a Bloomberg Global Business Forum said that social media can be used as a weapon for good governance.
Modi said, “Social media has become a powerful instrument of democracy. It’s encouraging to see established media take up initiatives to counter fake news”. On to this, he said that he had further ordered for an action based on the incidents that have attracted his attention. As an example of this, Prime Minister cited the action he took to save lives towards the flood-hit areas in Gujrat.
On responding to the question as to how he would be using social media as being the head of the government, he answered like a good weapon. PM further suggested the public to first verify any news they receive before they forward it to some other. “The fashion of forwarding needs to be solved with technology,” Modi added.
