Today India’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting to review the Covid situation in India, following the discovery of 4 cases of the Omicron sub-variant driving the massive China surge. The meeting will be held at around 3:30 pm in the afternoon on 22nd December amid the rising cases in several countries including-China, Japan etc.

 The high-level meeting has been called after 4cases of Omicron sub-variant BF.7 were confirmed in the country (two each in Odisha and Gujarat). The variant BF.7 is driving the present massive surge in Covid cases in China.

The meeting comes a day after Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the  current situation and asked the  people to follow Covid appropriate behavior, including wearing masks in  the crowded places, and getting vaccinated.

 Maharashtra health department has asked all the district administrations and the  municipal corporations to increase COVID-19 tests. K’taka Health Min Dr K Sudhakar said: We have called an emergency meeting today under Chief Minister’  chairmanship. PM has called a meeting with all health officials  and  technical committee members. Based on their directions our Government will also follow all their recommendations  and guidelines.

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday, our  country India logged 185 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases declined to 3,402.
