Polling for MLC elections begin in AP and Telangana

The Polling for MLC elections has started in  Telugu States- Andhra Pradesh- AP and Telangana. Srikakulam-Vijaynagaram-Visakhapatnam, Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor, Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool Pattabhadrula MLC constituencies in Andhra Pradesh, Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor, Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool Upadhyay MLC constituencies, two in West Godavari, two each in Srikakulam and Kurnool. Polling is going on for MLC constituencies.

Around 29,720 teachers registered as voters. The teachers’ constituency falls under the jurisdiction of nine districts – Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet,  Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Hyderabad.

GHMC additional commissioner and  the returning officer, Priyanka Ala, inspected the distribution centre set up at GHMC headquarters yesterday and said arrangements were complete. Priyanka Al  told election staff to examine the statutory and non-statutory documents and voters’ list. 137 polling stations have been set up, including 22 polling centers in Hyd dis- trict. 12 sectoral officers and 29 observers have been appointed.

Polling for Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahabubnagar Upadhyay MLC seat is going on in Telangana.  Meanwhile, the constituencies of  five local bodies belonging to Nellore, Anantapur, Kadapa, East Godavari and Chittoor districts in Andhra Pradesh have already been unanimously elected.  The polling started at 8 am and it  will continue till 4 o’clock in the evening. Polling results will be declared on 16th of this month.
