The much-awaited trailer of Mani Ratnam‘ magnum opus  Ponniyin Selvan is out. The makers of the film unveiled its trailer in a grand audio launch event in Chennai on Tuesday, which is grabbing the attention of movie lovers.  The movie starring Aishwarya Rai, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan and others.

Ponniyin Selvan is the  story of Chola Empire, the greatest empire in India’s history.  The trailer starts with the visuals of a comet across the sky and it asks for  sacrifice of the royal blood. We are introduced to Jayam Ravi’s Arunmozhi Varman, Chiyaan Vikram’s Aditha Karikalan, and Karthi as Vanthiyathevan. The trailer shows many fight sequences. Vikram, Karthi and Jayram Ravi are seen fighting in many sequences. The  major highlight of the trailer is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is essaying Queen Nandini.  The trailer  ends with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looking at an empty throne.

Aishwarya Rai is playing the dual role. She will play queen Nandini, the princess of Pazhuvoor, who is on a mission to seek vengeance, as well as Mandakini Devi in the historical drama.

 The upcoming film marks the second collaboration of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with Vikram after Raavan in 2010 and the  fourth collaboration with Mani Ratnam after Iruvar in 1997, Guru in 2007 and Raavan in 2010.
