Noted Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has shared his memories of his arrest in Saudi Arabia.
Anurag Kashyap, a native of Uttar Pradesh, arrived in Mumbai in 1993 with film dreams and Rs 5,000. He is known for helming movies like Dobaaraa, Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat, Choked and others. Recently during an interview, Anurag Kashyap revealed that he was arrested and questioned by the officials in Saudi Arabia for getting drunk while he was travelling through the largest country in the Arabian Peninsula.
Anurag Kashyap narrated the incident when he landed in Saudi Arabia totally drunk and with the bag of pork sausages. He said that he was arrested and questioned by the officials.
The director added, “There were no flights from Denmark due to volcanic ash. I was very exhausted, I had wine and I went took the ticket and I had to wait 5 hours. I went to the lounge and started drinking because I wanted to pass out. I sat in flight and I passed out. I landed in Saudi Arabia, they arrested me because I walked on the land of Saudi totally drunk. The officials started questioning me. Luckily I had my phone and I sent a text to Ronnie Screwala.” He also added, “ I was terrified because i had a bag of pork sausages with him.
