Precautions to be taken to prevent sunburn

Sunburn damages our body’s temperature-regulating system. It increases body temperature. If you have something to do for a while and go out in this sun, you feel lethargic and weak. For example, there are some jobs that require working in the sun for long periods of time. The risk is even greater for players, workers and police on duty outside. They must take precautions to protect themselves from the sun.

When working in high temperature, our body tries to regulate the temperature by releasing sweat. When the sweat evaporates, it feels a bit cold. But the body temperature is high in people who do a lot of physical activity. It causes excessive sweating. Dr Sandeep Patil said that there is a risk of getting sunburn due to the problem of dehydration which remains like this for most of the time.

Here are some precautions to avoid sunburn:

·         Drink more water. People working outside should take juices, coconut water and cold water frequently.

·         Dark colored clothes absorb heat. So wear light colored, loose fitting clothes.

·         Do not go outside from 11 am to 3 pm.

·         Stop drinking alcohol . Due to this the body temperature is not controlled.

·         Do not exercise in the afternoon. Physical exercises should be done in the morning and evening.

How to care for a sunburned person?

·         A person suffering from sun stroke should be taken care of until he is taken to the hospital-

·         First take them to a cool shady place and lay them down.

·         Wipe it with a damp cloth to reduce the temperature. Otherwise, make sure that the whole body is exposed to air.

·         If possible, lie down in a swimming pool or bathtub with the entire body submerged except for the head.

·         Pour warm water over the scalp.

·         Salt water should be given.
