UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak fined by police: UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been fined by Lancashire Police for not wearing a seatbelt in back of car while shooting a social media video. A fixed penalty notice for Rishi Sunak’ failure to fasten his seatbelt carries a £100 fine. In its statement, Lancashire Police referred to Rishi Sunak as “a 42-year-old man from London.”
He apologised on Thursday for a “brief error of judgement”, had uploaded the video to Instagram during a trip to northwest England. It was widely shared by other users who noticed that Sunak had not buckled up. British police fined PM on Friday for failing to wear a seat belt while he filmed a social media clip in the back seat of a moving car, the potentially embarrassing blow as he tries to revive his party’ fortunes.
This is second penalty Rishi Sunak has received from the police after last year they found he broke Covid-19 lockdown rules, along with then-prime minister Boris Johnson. Finally Rishi Sunak becomes 2nd prime minister after Johnson to have broken the law in such a manner.
The spokesman from Rishi Sunak’s Downing Street office revealed, “ PM fully accepts this was a mistake and has apologised.”
