On Tuesday, the Supreme Court granted protection from arrest to the controversial actress Poonam Pandey in p*rn films racket case.
A bench of Justices Vineet Saran and B V Nagarathna issued notice to the Maharashtra government on an appeal filed by Nasha actress against a Bombay High Court order rejecting her anticipatory bail.
The model turned actress has been arrayed as an accused in the FIR along with Sherlyn Chopra. The high court had rejected her anticipatory bail application on 25th November, 2021. Later she moved the Supreme Court challenging the high court order.
In the month of December, the court had granted protection from arrest to Raj Kundra in connection with an FIR registered against him for distributing p*rnographic videos.
The businessman and the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra had been booked under certain Sections of the Indian Penal Code, Indecent Representation of Women Act and Information Technology Act, for allegedly distributing/ transmitting s*xually explicit videos.
Last year she was also in the news headline when the actress filed a complaint against her husband to the Mumbai Police. She accused her husband of assaulting her. The actress was hospitalised after lodging the complaint. Just days after their wedding last year, she had also filed a complaint in Goa claiming that Sam had molested.
