We have already reported that the newly formed Konaseema district will undergo a name change.  The  Government will change the name from Konaseema to Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema.  Recently  the government issued a notification inviting objections and suggestions on the proposal to rename the Konaseema district after Dr BR Ambedkar from the people residing within Konaseema.

On Tuesday fierce violence and clashes broke out in Andhra Pradesh’s Amalapuram city over the renaming of the newly created Konaseema district after Dr BR Ambedkar. The people are not happy with the government decision to change the name of the district to Dr BR Ambedkar. A number of police personnel left injured and the protesters set ablaze the house of ruling Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party – YSRCP-  MLA from Mummidivaram P Satish and also torched furniture kept outside Transport Minister P Viswarup’s home.

On the otherside, APCC spokesperson Sk Saida blamed the YSRCP Government,  and said that it failed to stop the large-scale violence over protests against renaming of Konaseema district, in Amalapuram on Tuesday.

Sk Saida  condemned the attack on the houses of Transport Minister P Viswaroop and MLA P Satish, he said it happened as a result of the  failure of the police intelligence.   He demanded the resignation of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on moral responsibility.
