Late Kannada Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar will be posthumously awarded ‘Karnataka Ratna’ by the Karnataka government. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai made the announcement in Bengaluru on 16th November. The event was held at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru to celebrate late actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s life and his contributions to Kannada cinema. This event was attended by many from Kannada film industry as well as several other politicians and the ministers. The event was also telecast live on television.
CM said, “Apart from this honor, my cabinet will also take decisions on getting national awards and honors for Puneeth Rajkumar. A memorial too would be built in the honor of the actor to make his name and memories immortal.”
Karnataka Ratna is the state’s highest civilian award, and Puneeth Rajkumar will be the tenth recipient of the award. CM announced this special news during ‘Puneetha Namana’ memorial meeting organised by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce in association with Kannada film actors’ and technicians’ associations.
Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar passed away due to a massive cardiac arrest on 29th October . He was laid to rest with full state honors at Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru next to his father and mother on 31st October 2021.
