On Sunday i.e 21st April 2019, Blasts hit two churches in Sri Lanka including in the capital Colombo, as worshippers attended Easter services. According to the police report, the blasts occurred at around 8.45 am as Easter Sunday masses were in progress. A second explosion was reported at St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo, a Catholic majority town north of the Colombo. Raadhika Sharath Kumar was in Colombo, and was staying at Cinnamongrand hotel but luckily, she left the hotel before the bomb blast. This news is confirmed by Raadhika Sharath Kumar herself as took to her Twitter and wrote, “OMG bomb blasts in Sri Lanka, god be with all. I just left Colombo Cinnamongrand hotel and it has been bombed, can’t believe this shocking.”
Sarath Kumar also wrote on his Twitter, “A dastardly act of terror unleashed in Colombo is condemnable, our heart goes out to innocent lives lost in the attack @TamilTheHindu @ThanthiTV @bbctamil.”
According to the latest report, at least 80 injured in the church blasts. St Anthony’s Shrine, a church in Colombo, and St Sebastian’s Church in Negombo were hit, as were the Shangri-La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand hotels in Colombo.
