Earlier it was heard that SS Rajamouli was planning to cast three huge superstars from three Indian film industries for his dream project – a cinematic version of the epic the Mahabharata. The film is certainly not on the cards immediately after his next, yet another war epic, RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan.

Earlier during an interview, SS Rajamouli had said, “I want to do  Mahabharata. The Mahabharata is such an epic that I need to up my craftsmanship to handle such a subject. I met Aamir Khan ji once quite sometime back, We spoke about Mahabharata. I know that he’s very much interested in doing the film.

But presently I am not thinking about this.” Rajamouli had earlier claimed that he needs at least 10 years to translate something as grand as the Mahabharata onto the silver screen.

In his recent interview in a top news channel, SS Rajamouli opened up about Mahabharata and said that it’d take a minimum of 10 years to take the project to sets. I would make the film in 6 or 7 parts. Mahabharata would become India’s biggest film franchise and the last part of the film might hit the theaters in 2040.
