Rajinikanth has completed 44 years in Indian Cinema today. Rajinikanth started his acting in plays while working in Bangalore Transport Service as bus conductor. Rajinikanth was born a Maharashtrian called Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on 12th December, 1950. He made his debut in K Balachander’ drama Apoorva Raagangal. In 2007, Rajinikanth was the highest-paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan at the time. While working in other regional film industries of India, Rajinikanth has also appeared in Hollywood movie Bloodstone in 1988. As of 2018, Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth has won 6 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards—4 Best Actor Awards and 2 Special Awards for Best Actor—and a Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award.

Apart from acting in movies, he has worked as a producer and screenwriter. Rajinikanth has appeared in over 160 films, in Kollywood. He started his film career by playing antagonistic and supporting roles before acting as a lead actor.

Rajinikanth has also worked in Kollywood, Tollywood, Mollywood and Bollywood. Superstar Rajinikanth is a Padma Vibhushan awardee. He was conferred with the honour in 2016. He was last seen in Petta. His next project is titled Darbar, which is being helmed by AR Murugadoss. Nayantara is playing the female lead role. Rajinikanth will be seen in dual roles in the movie, one of them being a feisty cop. Till date, the makers did not reveal the role of Nayantara.
