Suffering from the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam died on September 25th. Having worked predominantly in the Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam film industries, Balasubrahmanyam is called as one of the greatest Indian singers of all time. 

He made his debut as a playback singer in 1966 with the Telugu movie Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna. Since then, he turned as the best singer and gained popularity in the singing world. In the span of five decades in his singing career, he won 6 National Film Awards for best Male Playback singer for his distinctive works in multiple languages like Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada.

He was honoured with the Indian Film Personality of the year award in 2016, at the 47th International Film Festival of India. He had also received Padma Shri award (2001), Padma Bhushan (2011), and Padma Vibhushan (posthumously) in 2021 from the Indian government. 

He gave his voice to more than 40,000 songs in as many as 16 languages and held the Guinness World Record. His full name is Sripathi Panditharadhyula Balasubrahmanyam and he is popularly called as SPB. He had also worked as television presenter, actor, dubbing artist, music composer and film producer. He was named as Gaana Gandharva during his prosperous singing career. He lives forever in the hearts of Indian people.
