Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD in Bihar has made strong comments at a time when there is widespread criticism over the inauguration of the new Parliament building. In a tweet, which is likely to trigger a major controversy, RJD equated the new Parliament building to a coffin that symbolises death. The RJD’s official Twitter handle posted the picture alongside an image of the new Parliament with a ‘yeh kya hai?’ caption in Hindi.
Reacting to this, RJD leader Shakti Singh Yadav said that their intention is to say that they are burying democracy. It is stated that the country does not accept this. He explained that Parliament is like a temple of democracy and it is a place for discussions.
BJP reacted equally strongly to this tweet. Party leader Sushil Kumar Modi said that a sedition case should be registered against those who compared the Parliament building to a coffin. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia warned that people will surely bury you in the same coffin in 2024. He tweeted: Today is a historic moment and the country is proud. You are Nazarbattu and nothing else. Keep beating your chest. In 2024, the people of the country will bury you in this coffin and will not even give you a chance to enter the temple of new democracy. Let it also be decided that the coffin of the country is yours.
#MyParliamentMyPride pic.twitter.com/DBpuHVVVqJ
