SS Rajamouli did the unthinkable with his Baahubali series- Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film Baahubali series starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannah Bhatia, turned out to be a huge hit not just in India but also internationally.
Now, the filmmaker is busy with the production of his upcoming magnum opus RRR, which boasts an ensemble cast including mega Power Star Ram Charan, Young Tiger Jr NTR, Shriya Saran, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. The movie RRR is on the verge of completion but the makers have not yet closed the satellite and digital deals.
Amazon Prime and Star Maa are the frontrunners to acquire the OTT streaming and satellite rights for all languages put together. Both Amazon Prime and Star Maa have offered Rs 290 Cr (Rs 130 Cr for the satellite rights, Rs 160 Cr for digital rights) but the makers of RRR are demanding more and they have not closed the deal. The sources say that the makers are seeking better fancy price from Zee, Gemini and Netflix.
In 2018, the team of RRR held a press meet where DVV Danayya revealed the budget of the film to be Rs 400 to Rs 450 crore. RRR is slated to hit the theaters on 13th October.
