Young Rebel star Prabhas’ previous offering Saaho, directed by Sujeeth, ended up commercially flop at the box office. The action entertainer Saaho struggled to recover the cost of production. The distributors faced heavy losses for this disaster. According to the latest update UV creations subsidiary company, V Celluloids didn’t pay theater rents for the past 8 months to compensate Saaho loses. Saaho which has Shraddha Kapoor in the female lead is jointly bankrolled by Vamshi Krishna Reddy, Pramod Uppalapati and Vikram Reddy under the banner of UV Creations.
The production house UV Creations is one of the successful banners in the Telugu Film Industry and is popular for bankrolling the big-budget movies. UV is not only in to film production but they have a strong distribution network in the majority of the areas. They have a considerable number of theatres under their control in both the Telugu states- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. They are strategically increasing their presence in all the areas of Telugu states. They have a strong distribution network in Ceded, Vizag, Guntur, Krishna, and East.
Prabhas starrer Saaho is made with Rs 300 Cr budget and the movie earned Rs 232 cr share from the box office. If we include non-theatrical sales like satellite rights and all, it made another Rs 138 Cr, leaving the producers in 70 Cr profits as a whole. The theatrical rights of Saaho valued at Rs 290 Cr and some areas sold to outside distributors, there is a clear Rs 60 Cr loss visible from theatre circuits.
Some trade reports say that UV Creations subsidiary company V Celluloids have released the film Saaho themselves in many circuits, they are said to have sold them to some small-time buyers city wise in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Those people are said to have incurred 20% to 40% losses.
The Telugu distributors in Telugu states are said to have lost money majorly. And it is being heard that UV creations subsidiary company V Celluloid didn’t pay theater rents for the past 8 months to compensate the loses of Saaho starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor. Finally, Saaho has killed the theatre owners.
