Saakshyam Review: The action fantasy thriller film Saakshyam starring Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas and Pooja Hegde, directed by Sriwass and produced by Abhishek Nama under the banner of Abhishek Pictures, is hitting the theaters today. The film has the music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Apart from the lead pair, Saakshyam has other stars like Jagapathi Babu, Ravi Kishan, Ashutosh Rana, Rao Ramesh, Sarath Kumar, Meena, Pavitra Lokesh, Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji and others in supporting roles. Let’s see how it is:

Story: Vishwa (Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas), is a video game designer and lives abroad. He is son of rich couple but his parents are killed by goons Munuswamy (Jagapathi Babu) and his brothers (Ravi kishan and Ashutosh Rana), when he was toddler. Vishwa comes in the contact of Soundarya (Pooa Hegde), who teaches Indian culture at a temple in New York.  He instantly falls in love for her. Vishwa follows her to India and  comes to a small village where he witness the tragedy when he was toddler. How five different elements of nature come to the support of Vishwa in avenging his parents’ death forms the crux of the story.

Plus points:

  • Performance of Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas and Pooja Hegde
  • Story
  • Background score
  • Cinematography
  • Action Episode
  • Production Value

Minus Points:

  • Songs
  • Love track between lead pair
  • Unwanted scenes in First half
  • Editing
  • Comedy

Performance: Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas performed well as Vishwa, a gaming professional. He impresses the audiences by his performance skills, action and dancing abilities. Pooja Hegde looks very cute. She has become the new darling of Tollywood. Sarath Kumar and Meena are good. Once again Jagapathi Babu won the hearts of audiences with his performance. Ashutosh Rana and Ravi Kishan justify with their roles as brothers of Jagapathi Babu. Vennela Kishore, Jhansee, Brahmaji,  and others performed accordingly.

Technical: The story of Saakshyam is interesting. All the songs, composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar are terrible and look like a speed breaker. The background score is good that adds a new dimension to the on-screen action. In fact, it can even be called one of the highlights of Saakshyam.  Editing is ok but it could be better by chopping few dragged scenes. The production values are top notch. The cinematography work, handled by Arthur A. Wilson, is fantastic. The way New York and other locations of Dubai are showcased looks super rich on the screen. Dialogues are impressive. Stunts and action sequences are well choreographed.

Analysis: Saakshyam is wrongly Executed Fantasy-Visual Thriller. The way nature is interlinked with Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas reminds us more of devotional films.  The biggest assets of Saakshyam are action sequences and Cinematography work. Coming on the work of director Sriwass, he came up with an interesting story of revenge drama and how the nature helps the actor to take revenge,  to impress the audiences but he became fail to execute it. He should take care of romantic scenes between the lead pair- Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas and Pooja Hegde. Instead of showing romantic side of Bellamkonda Sari Srinivas, the director Sriwass tried to present him in aggressive avatar.  Now once again Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas disappointed the audiences.
