Samantha Akkineni made her debut in OTT world with the web drama The Family Man 2 that also featured Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role. Created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the web drama featured Samantha Akkineni as the show’s new antagonist. We have already reported that MDMK leader Vaiko and Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman urged the Centre to ban The Family Man 2 as he alleged the negative portrayal of the Tamil people and accused the show for portraying the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam – LTTE as terrorists. The day trailer of The Family Man 2 released, many people took an objection stating the web show portrays LTTE in a bad light. The netizens also trended #BoycottTheFamilyMan and #BoycottSamantha on Twitter.
Recently Samantha Akkineni attended an interview and said, “I allow the people to have their own opinions. If they decided to stay with that opinion, I am very sorry for hurting the sentiments. I sincerely apologize as it was not something I intended on doing at all. I did not mean to hurt anyone. So, if I did, I am extremely sorry.”
U turn actress added, “I am glad that, though, once the show The Family Man 2 did release, a lot of the noise stopped. I guess some saw it was not so bad after all. For the people who did not and still continue to hold resentment, I sincerely apologise.”
On the otherside, Samantha will be seen playing the lead role in Gunsekkar’ directorial venture Shakuntalam.
