In this year 2021, we are poised to see the beautiful actress Samantha Akkineni test new ground as she dons the title role of Shakuntala in upcoming Telugu mythological drama Shakuntalam, based on Kalidasa’s eponymous work, which is helmed by Gunasekhar of Rudhramadevi fame. The announcement regarding Shakuntalam was made on 1st January by the director who unveiled the motion poster of and termed the narrative as ‘mythology for millennials’. Samantha is playing the titular role in Shakuntalam which is a pan-Indian film with music by Mani Sharma. Now according to the latest report, the shoot of Shakuntalam has been halted as Gunasekhar tested positive for the coronavirus.
The shoot of Shakuntalam has been happening in Annapurna Studios for the past 2 weeks but now the shoot came to a halt after Gunasekhar is tested positive for coronavirus. According to the latest report, Gunasekhar is now in home isolation.

Shakuntalam tells the story of Shakuntala, daughter of the Vishwamitra and the apsara Menaka. The plot is based upon a love affair, the marriage, separation of imprecation and reunion of the immortal love of Shakuntala and Dushyanta.
