After delivering the successful movie Rangasthalam, Samantha Akkineni proved that she isn’t going to disappear from the screen. After getting married with Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, she was seen in King Nagarjuna starrer Raju Gari Gadi 2, where she essayed the role of ghost and in recently released woman centric movie Mahanati, Samantha was seen playing a journalist. Samantha has played a variety of roles in her filmy career. Now according to the latest buzz in the film Industry, Samantha Akkineni is going to play the role of 70 years old lady in her next project. The sources say that Samantha Akkineni is very impressed with the script narrated by Nandini Reddy and the discussion about the possibility of this upcoming project has been started but nothing is finalized yet.
It is heard that the plot is inspired by the Korean film ‘Miss Granny’ which is all about the story of an elderly woman, who regains her youthful appearance after visiting a mysterious photo studio. In Miss Granny, Na Moon-hee played the lead role and made her screen presence as a woman in her 70s who magically finds herself in the body of her 20-year-old self (Shim Eun-kyung) after having her picture taken at a mysterious photo studio.
The industry source claims that Samantha is impressed with the narration but did not yet give her nod. Now days, the actress is accepting the challenging roles. Currently Samantha is busy in a murder mystery drama ‘U Turn’, the remake of Kannada hit movie of same title, where she is playing an investigative journalist. The story documents a journalist who investigates a crime. Apart from Samantha Akkineni, the film also stars Rahul Ravindran and Aadhi Pinisetty in key roles. It is helmed by Pawan Kumar, who also helmed the Kannada original. The film is being released in Tamil and Telugu.
Samantha also has several interesting projects in the pipeline including Kumararaja Thiyagaraja’s Super Deluxe and a rom-com with Naga Chaitanya in the direction of Shiva Niravana.
