Sanju, the biopic of Sanjay Dutt, helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, which was released on 29th June 2018, in a very grand manner, has turned out to be second highest opening weekend grosser in Australia after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Sanjay Dutt in Sanju and according to the traders report, Sanju has crushed the collection record of SS Rajamouli’s India’s biggest blockbuster Baahubali 2 :The Conclusion at Australia Box Office. This news is confirmed by Taran Adarsh. The  Hindi version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannah Bhatia and Anushka Shetty, collected A$ 839,323 in its opening weekend from Australia whereas Sanju has collected A$ 931,947.

 Sanju has also beaten Rajinikanth starrer gangster drama Kaala, Kareena Kapoor & Sonam Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding and Salman Khan’s Race 3 at Australia Box office. Talking about Padmaavat,  the historic drama was released in Telugu and Tamil versions.

Sanju starring Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal and others, is jointly produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the banners Rajkumar Hirani Films and Vinod Chopra Films.

Rishi Kapoor, the father of Ranbir Kapoor who is very excited, took to his twitter and wrote, “Thank you and God bless you. Aur bhi achcha kaam karo.”
