  • Music
  • Direction

 Minus points:

Performance: One marvelous aspect about Sarvam Thaala Mayam is the perfect casting and their performances of all the actors. Nedumudi Venu as the Mridangam Vidwan is brilliant and he makes the character livelier than anyone can imagine. He is the heart and soul of this film. His relationship with his sishya Peter, is of the highlights of the film.  GV Prakash Kumar handles musical instruments look authentic. Kumaravel who plays GV Prakash’s father is good. Dhivyadarshini as the TV anchor is perfect casting. Vineeth and Aparna Murali are perfectly cast in their respective roles. The film works largely due to its casting and all credit to Rajiv Menon for picking the right actors.

Technical: Sarvam Thaala Mayam  is a bittersweet tale of human frailties.  The music and BGM scored by AR Rahman is impressive. Rahman is the true hero of  Sarvam Thaala Mayam as he has filled the background with different beats of skin instruments used minimally to the great effect. The director Rajiv Menon sets out to tell the message that Carnatic music should not be confined to the upper caste and become more inclusive of talented people from the other castes too.  Editing by Anthony is sharp and the flow is quite organic. Ravi Yadav’s cinematography is stunning and the film Sarvam Thaala Mayam  is visually appealing.

Analysis:  Sarvam Thaala Mayam is an emotional musical drama. All the actors in Sarvam Thaala Mayam  are brilliant, the casting is just perfect. The direction’s brilliant.  Rajiv Menon has proved that beauty lies not just in the colorful clothes or the picturesque frames, but also in a storyline filled with hope and aspiration.   The movie talks about caste, but without pointing fingers.
