The Supreme Court has given the entire disputed 2.77-acre land to the Hindu parties with a trust to be formed by the Centre within 3 months to monitor the construction of Ram Temple. The Sunni Waqf Board will be given 5 acres of alternate land. The Nirmohi Akhara also suffered a setback with the court saying it is not a ‘shebait’ or devotee of the deity Ram Lalla.

The verdict was read out by a five-judge constitution bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising CJI-designate SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer. Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, who retires on 17th November, decided the date of the verdict in consultation with four other judges after 40 days of the daily hearing.

Iqbal Ansari, the son of the oldest litigant in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case Hashim Ansari, said, “ I am fully satisfied with the Supreme Court verdict.” He added, “We had said that we will accept whatever the Supreme court decides even before the judgment came. It is for the government to now decide where and when the land will be allotted for the mosque. Whatever the government decides will be acceptable to us. We now welcome the verdict.”

On the other side, Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board’s Zafaryab Jilani expressed dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court’s Ayodhya verdict, saying it has a lot of contradictions and they will seek a review of it.

The former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “We should respect the decision of the Supreme Court. Our country is a historical and ancient nation. We have given the message of peace to the world. I appeal to everyone to maintain brotherhood.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says that It is a landmark judgment.
