Sekhar Kammula is popular for making feel good romantic movies like Happy Days and Godavari. Currently he is working with Fidaa and Middle Class Abbayi fame Sai Pallavi and Akkineni Naga Chaitanya for an upcoming romantic film Love Story. In this film, Sai Pallavi is essaying the role of a College girl and Chaitanya is playing the role of a rural guy from Telangana. Apparently the director Sekhar Kammula is trying to step out of his comfort zone and try out the thriller genre. Sekhar Kammula had tried his hand at this genre before as he had made the movie Anamika, the Telugu-Tamil remake of the award-winning Bollywood thriller drama Kahaani.
‘Anamika’ was well received by Telugu movie lovers but failed to create an impact. Lady superstar Nayantara reprised the role of Vidya Balan’ in this version of the film. It was released in Tamil as Nee Enge En Anbe. However, confirmation from the director Sekhar Kammula regarding his future projects is awaited.
Sekhar Kammula made his directorial debut with Dollar Dreams in 2000, which was a critical success, and won him the National Film Award for Best First film of a director. His second movie Anand was a blockbuster, which was released in 2004.
