Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majeed Memom has come up with his support to MP Azam Khan of Samajwadi Party (SP). Azam is facing the criticism and remark over the BJP lawmaker Rama Devi. Majeed Memom said that Azam’s words can be considered as the complimentary comment instead of amplifying it.
Yesterday, during the Triple Talaq Bill debate session in Lower House, Rama Devi asked Azam Khan to talk by looking at the chair and address the House through the presiding officer. Azam Khan made a remark which it was perceived as the s*xiest by the treasury benches. They went to object his remarks and many others supported them.
However, Azam Khan didn’t take the step to apologize and said that he will resign from his position if he had uttered anything unparliamentary. Further, he even walked out from the session with his chief Akhilesh Yadav who has supported him.
On speaking to media, Majeed Memon said, “What he (Azam Khan) said does not seem to be offensive. He did not say meaning to disrespect the honorable chairperson. I don’t think Azam Khan would do such a stupid thing. I don’t think an issue is to be made out of this.” He added, “But then the BJP takes everything that Azam Khan does with a pinch of salt”
He added saying, “There is nothing offensive in what he said. On the contrary, it may be taken as a complimentary comment for which there should be appreciation”.
