Shaakuntalam is an upcoming women centric Telugu film in which Samantha Ruth Prabhu is playing the titular role. The movie is a film based on the mythical Shakuntala written by Kalidas. Gunasekara has directed this epic historical film ‘Rudrama Devi’, is on the board to helm this drama. The movie also has Malayalam actor Dev Mohan in the lead role. Today morning Samantha took to her Twitter to share the first look poster of Shaakuntalam.

Coming on the poster, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is seen in a forest, surrounded by the birds and animals. Sam as Shakuntala is sitting on a rock with a pitcher next to her. She is seen wearing a white blouse and white saree, wearing ornaments made of flowers.
Shakuntala was the daughter of Apsara Meneka and Rishi Vishwamitra. In the forest she meets King Dushyant, and both falls in love , later they get married. After the birth of bab Bharata, Dushyant leaves her in the forest with a promise to come back for her soon. However, due to a sage’s curse, King Dushyant forgets everything about Shakuntala.
