Shreshta, who has penned lyrics for several hit movies including Pelli Choopulu and Arjun Reddy, has made some shocking revelations about sexual harassment (Casting Couch) in the Telugu film industry.
Recently Telugu actress Sri Reddy brought attention to the fact that Casting couch exists in Tollywood. She also revealed several names who asked her for sexual favour. Some actors in Tollywood have admitted that casting couch and sexual harassment exist here for long time. The latest to join the bandwagon is none other than lyricist Shreshta. Recently in an interview, Shreshta opened up about sexual harassment.
Shreshta had made some shocking revelations about sexual harassment in Tollywood just a few days ago. She had left many shocked with her statement. Shreshta said, “Not only men but few women are also encouraging casting couch in film Industry.” Sreshta revealed that the wife of a producer asked her to cooperate with her husband.” She further added, “A lady director for whose movie she penned the lyrics asked her to come to Goa for partying. Sreshta said that the lady director told her that a guy wants to propose to her. When I said no to lady director, She said to me that you have to prepare yourself for such type of acts. I warned her strongly and left the industry for a few months.”
Shreshta made Tollywood debut in 2013 with the film Oka Romantic Crime Katha. She also penned the lyrics for Telugu films -Ko Ante Koti, Yuddham Sharanam, Hello and Courier Boy Kalyan.
Shreshta used to write poems and was encouraged by her grandfather, Panchadhara Venkata Kishan. She started writing devotional songs, before pushing a career in movies. Pelli Choopulu starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma, was Shreshta’s 9th movie as a lyricist. She wrote the lyrics of Madhuram Madhuram song (Arjun Reddy) and Chinuku Taake, Merise Merise song (Pelli Choopulu).
