Sri Reddy in Tollywood, Meesha Shafi in Lollywood: When will Bollywood say Me Too?Women are being encouraged to speak up about s*xual harassment thanks to the “Me Too” hashtag that has been sweeping the world since October 2017. The news of Hollywood magnate Harvey Weinstein molesting and s*xually abusing women has shocked many. Several women since then have come up and shared their stories about how they were abused. In Hollywood alone, over 100 women, including  the top actresses like Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Salma Hayek, came out with their stories of how they had been victims of Harvey Weinstein’s unwanted s*xual advances.

 Recently Pakistani singer, Meesha Shafi,  who is known for her Coke Studio renditions like Aaya Laariye, Jugni, Bholay Bholay, has made a shocking revelation. She has accused singer turned actor Ali Zafar of s*xually harassing her. On twitter she wrote, “I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to s*xual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences didn’t happen when I was young, or just entering the industry. This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”

 She also tweeted, “Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of s*xual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo”

Ali Zafar made his Bollywood debut with ‘Tere Bin Laden’ and later he acted in few Hindi movies like  ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’, ‘London Paris New York’, ‘Kill Dil’ and more.

 In Tollywood,  actress  Sri Reddy  has been making headlines for her crusade against the casting couch. She has been taking on the bigwigs of Tollywood, from director Sekhar Kammula to producer Suresh Babu’son Abhiram Daggubati who s*xually exploited her.  She also revealed the name of other Tollywood celebs- VV Vinayak, Koratala Siva, Viva Harsha, Sri Ram Chandra, Kona Venkat.

The actress said, “I will fight till my last breath. They have already smashed my career. If I get any offer, then I will do, otherwise I will go back to TV. But I will not stop fighting.”

 In Bollywood, Shakti Kapoor has been accused of inappropriate behaviour more than once.  It was heard that  he was caught on MTV Bakra, apparently touching the interviewer inappropriately. In 2005, in a sting operation, he was caught on camera asking an undercover journalist posing as an aspiring actress for s*xual favours. Shakti  Kapoor was briefly banned by the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, only for it to be lifted a week later.

 On the otherside, Award winning film director Vikas Bahl, best known for directing Kangana Ranaut starrer Queen was accused of molestation by a female employee of Phantom Films.
