Struggling politician to play Mahesh Babu mom?

According to the latest buzz in the film industry, Anil Ravipudi is bringing former heroine and struggling politician Vijayashanti to play a key role in his upcoming untitled directorial venture in which Telugu Superstar Mahesh Babu will play the lead role. The source close to Anil Ravipudi reveal that lady Amitabh, Vijayashanti will be seen playing Mahesh Babu’ mom in this film.

We have already reported that Anil Ravipudi has also approached Bandla Ganesh to play the important role. It is heard the recently Anil Ravipudi met Vijayashanti and narrated the script. The actress is said to very happy with her character and she is planning to make her comeback in film Industry once again.

After retiring from playing the lead roles in Telugu movies, Vijayashanti started to focus on politics and now she is all set to play the key role in Mahesh Babu starrer upcoming project. If everything works as per plan, it will be their reunion on the screen after 30 years.

Earlier in 1989, both Mahesh Babu and Vijayashanti worked together for Koduku Diddina Kapuram, directed by Krishna and now once again they are teaming up.

Vijayashanti has been called “The Lady Superstar” and “Lady Amitabh” of South Indian cinema. She was the only actress who demanded high remuneration equal to her male counterparts during the 1990s. Vijayashanti’ remuneration for the Telugu movie Karthavyam was Rs 1 crore, which was the highest ever remuneration paid for a female actor during that period. The actress joined state politics in the year 1998.

The upcoming project of Mahesh Babu and Vijayashanti starrer will be bankrolled by Dil Raju and Anil Sunkara under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations and 14 Reels Entertainment, respectively.

Currently Mahesh Babu is busy in his upcoming 25th project Maharshi, directed by Vamsi Paidapally. The film is about three friends played by Mahesh Babu, Allari Naresh and Pooja Hegde. It is scheduled to hit the theaters on 9th May.
