Suhasini Maniratnam to play Sabitha Indra Reddy in YSR biopicSuhasini Maniratnam will be seen essaying the role of Sabitha Indra Reddy in YSR biopic, Yatra in the direction of Mahi J Raghav.

The former actress Suhasini, the wife of director Maniratnam has been roped  in the upcoming biopic of  late Chief Minister  (YSR) YS Rajasekhar Reddy which is titled as Yatra. The sources  say that Suhasini Maniratnam will be seen essaying the role of former Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy – the first woman Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Suhasini Maniratnam has worked for several Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and  Malayalam movies. Suhasini is considered as one of the greatest actresses in Kannada film Industry. She made her film debut in 1980 with  Tamil movie  Nenjathai Killathe, for which She won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress.

 Anando Brahma fame director Mahi V Raghav is helming YSR biopic Yatra and it is  bankrolled by 70 MM Entertainments’ Vijay Chilla and Sashi Devreddy.  Malayalam star Mammootty is playing the role of YSR in Yatra and Posani Murali Krishna will essay the role of YSR’s personal assistant Sureedu. Baahubali fame  Ashrita  Vemuganti is on the  board to play the role of  YS Vijayamma. Mammootty will be starring in a straight Telugu film after 25 years, his last movie in Tollywood was Swathi Kiranam, helmed by K Vishwanath in 1992.

 Earlier it was heard that Bhumika Chawla who made his comeback in Telugu film Industry with MCA aka Middle Class Abbayi starring Natural Star Nani and Sai Pallavi, will also be seen in Yatra. But later Bhumika refuted the rumour.

Suhasini Maniratnam also won the National Film Award for Best Actress for Sindhu Bhairavi in 1986. Her popular Telugu movies are Kalyana Kalam, Palaivana Solai, Veetile Raman Velile Krishnan, Dhoorathu Pachai, Irattai Roja, Nandhini, Balam etc. In Tollywood Suhasini was last seen in Nenjathai Killathe.

YSR was the CM of united Andhra Pradesh for two terms. He won the 2004 Assembly elections and was sworn in as 14th Chief Minister of AP and he served full-term. Now everyone is eager to know that what Sabitha Indra Reddy played during YSR’s Paada Yatra.
