Sunrisers Hyderabad team will start the new season of IPL with a new captain. South African cricketer Aiden Markram has been announced as their new captain. Markram is the captain of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape team that won the title in the recently held South Africa T20 Cricket League. The team under his leadership performed brilliantly in that league.
Sunrisers Hyderabad who was the only IPL team without a captain, has announced South African batsman Aiden Markram as their captain
for the upcoming IPL 2023 season. Markram had recently led the sunrisers Eastern Cape to the inaugural SA 20 title.
29 years old Markram will now take over from Kane Williamson, who was let-go by the franchise and went on to join defending champions Gujarat Titans during IPL 2023 auction.
Sunrisers gave up Kane Williamson, who served as captain for four years along with David Warner, who gave them the IPL trophy in the past. In this season’s auction, they retained Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mar Krum and bought Punjab captain Mayank Agarwal. Meanwhile, the 16th season of IPL will start on 31st March. For the 16th edition of IPL Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Rajasthan Royals in their opening fixture on 2nd April at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
