Supreme Court rejects plea seeking inauguration of New Parliament by President Murmu

It is known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed Parliament building on 28th of this month. A PIL (Public Interest Litigation) has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking to issue instructions to the Lok Sabha Secretariat and the Central Government to inaugurate the Parliament by the President of India. The plea highlighted that the president Murmu holds the highest position in the Indian society, acting both as the head of the Parliament and as the first citizen.  However, the Supreme Court refused to hear the PIL on Friday.

A bench comprising Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice PS Narasimha expressed impatience on the plea filed by Supreme Court advocate CR Jaya Sukin. “We know why you are filing such petitions. We are not ready to accept this,” the Supreme Court said. “Be glad that you have not been fined,” it warned.

The bench decided to dismiss the suit. At this time, the petitioner responded and sought permission to withdraw his lawsuit. “The court refused to accept the case for trial. After arguing for some time, the petitioner decided to withdraw the petition,” said the bench in its order.

Finally Supreme Court has refused to entertain the plea seeking direction that new Parliament building be inaugurated by President Murmu.
