‘Soorarai Pottru’ (Aaksham Nee Haddu Raa in Telugu), in which Kollywood star Suirya played the lead role, was undoubtedly one of the best films of 2020 which was released on OTT platform and received lot of appreciations from the movie lovers. The performance of Suirya was one of the major highlights of Soorarai Pottru. Not just Suriya, Aparna Balamurali who played the female lead, also delivered the best performance. Now according to the latest report, Suirya and Aparna Balamurali starrer film Soorarai Pottru is in Oscar race.
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed a list of 366 movies that are eligible for the Best Picture Academy Award set to take place on 25th April and the name of Soorarai Pottru is also in the same list.
Our Desi girl Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘The White Tiger’, Suriya starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and Nila Madhab Panda’s film on climate change ‘Kalira Atita’ are in the race to clench Oscar glory.
While our country India will be rooting for the three movies, it must be noted that the road to securing a nod is still weeks away. Other movies- ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, ‘Malcolm & Marie’, ‘Mank’, ‘Tenet’, ‘Soul’, ‘The Trial Of The Chicago 7’, ‘Sound Of Metal’ are also in Oscar race.
