Last year Tamil actor Suriya was in the news headlines when his statement had a portion blaming the Supreme Court for forcing students to write NEET amid the coronavirus pandemic. In his statement, Singham actor had said the three deaths by suicide, a day before the scheduled exam, due to the stress and anxiety of taking the test amid the pandemic had “shaken his conscience”.
The students were forced to prove their eligibility by writing a test at the time when there was a threat to life due to the coronavirus pandemic. This time once again Suriya released a video on social media in which he advised students against harming themselves over academic failure. With NEET 2021 results set to be announced next month, his video is believed to be targeted at students who took this examination.
Suriya said, “Your life is bigger than the exam. Marks alone cannot decide your life. There are lot of things to achieve in the life. Open up with your loved ones to come out of fear. Your worries will disappear soon. Suicide will be the biggest punishment you give to your loved ones.”
Suriya made an emotional appeal to the students to not take any extreme step for fear of not being able to clear an exam.
