Swara Bhasker about Kiss and Casting Couch : Swara Bhasker who is enjoying the success of her recent offering Veere Di Wedding, revealed an unpleasant incident of casting couch in the film industry. Recently Swara Bhasker attended an interactive session and opened up about her first-hand experience of the much-debated issue casting couch and revealed a Bollywood executive, who claimed to be the manager of a top filmmaker, tried to kiss her during a work meeting. Swara Bhasker said that she was in the meeting with manager of a big producer. He came forward and tried to kiss her ear and said, “I Love You baby.” Swara Bhasker asked: It’s all part of casting couch, right?
In the month of April, Swara Bhasker was also in news headline when the actress said that she was stalked and harassed by a director while shooting for a film in her budding days. From texting her relentlessly to even banging her door at night in a drunken state, the Bollywood director harassed Swara Bhaskar, who is now prominent actress.
Swara Bhaskar added that the casting couch is not new in Bollywood. Her advice on handling casting couch is – “Lose the part but don’t get on the couch.”
Swara Bhaskar explained the meaning of feminism to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker when he questioned her about the same at an event. She said, “Feminism is about giving women choice to make their own decisions just like men.”
Swara Bhaskar is popular for her movies Guzaarish, Chillar Party, Nil Battey Sannatta, Anaarkali of Arrah and Raanjhaana, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, also touched upon caste and various layers of privilege. She said, “If you look at the caste profile of Bollywood stars, there are hardly any Dalits. This is something we need to think about this carefully.”
Recently Swara Bhasker was in the news when people across different social media platforms made comments on her masturbation scene in ‘Veere Di Wedding’. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shikha Talsania and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, has turned out hit at the box office.
